Maternity & Newborn Photography for Helotes, TX Families

Helotes has always known how to hold onto its roots — literally, in the live oaks shading Old Town, and figuratively, in a small-town heart that’s stayed put even as new families move in every year. From the historic stretch of Bandera Road to the honky-tonk legacy of John T. Floore’s Country Store, this Hill Country gateway is proud of where it’s been and excited about where it’s going. At Maria Bercher Photography, we love working with Helotes parents building their own roots here, whether that means a maternity photo session to celebrate a growing bump, a maternity photoshoot the whole family gets to be part of, or newborn photography and infant portraits that capture those impossibly short first days.

Maternity Photography for Helotes Mamas-to-Be

Pregnancy moves fast, and a professional maternity photo session gives you a reason to slow down and really see yourself in this season — glowing, growing, and about to become someone’s mom, whether it’s your first baby or your fourth.

With 15 years behind the camera and four pregnancies of her own, Maria knows how to help you feel at ease in front of the lens. She’ll guide you through poses that read as natural rather than staged, and she has a gift for capturing the quiet emotion underneath the excitement — the way you rest a hand on your belly, or the look on your partner’s face when they realize how close you are.

Most Helotes clients schedule their pregnancy photoshoot between 28 and 34 weeks, when the bump is beautifully round but you’re still comfortable and mobile. Maria keeps a full closet of flowing maternity gowns in the studio, or you’re welcome to bring an outfit that feels like you. Partners, siblings, and grandparents are always invited along.

Newborn Photography: Preserving the Days You’ll Blink and Miss

Somewhere between the first diaper change and the first pediatrician visit, your newborn changes — fast. Professional newborn photography is how you hold onto exactly how small and new your baby was, in newborn portraits you’ll pull out for decades to come.

Maria has photographed more than 1,000 newborns, and every session is built around your baby’s comfort and safety first. The studio stays warm, around 80 degrees, which helps babies stay sleepy and cooperative for those classic curled-up poses. Sessions typically run 2 to 4 hours, with plenty of time built in for feeding, diaper changes, and soothing, because your baby sets the pace, not the clock.

The best newborn portraits happen when babies are 6 to 14 days old and still deep in that sleepy newborn stage, so we recommend reserving your session while you’re still pregnant. That way Maria can pencil in a spot around your due date and be ready the moment your Helotes baby arrives.

Serving Helotes & the Greater Hill Country

Maria’s studio sits a short, easy drive from Helotes — down Bandera Road (TX-16) or in via Loop 1604 — close enough that families make the trip a regular part of their pregnancy and newborn journey without a second thought.

Many Helotes families choose to book a maternity session and a newborn session together, and Maria offers discounted package pricing when you do. It’s the simplest way to document the whole story, from bump to baby, with a photographer who already knows you by the time your little one arrives.
